Want to play arcade style games at home (or, more honestly, from your desk at work)? Some of the most popular time wasters are flash games, which are either the simple "hit the penguin" varieties or emulated video arcade and game console selections. Some of the most addicting games are the simplest, such as the helicopter game, but there are also cool games for all kinds of audience. You may be looking for a first person shooter, puzzle (Zuma is a favorite), dress up, makeover, adventure, or fun game just to pass the time. If you're looking for adventure, cartoon fun, or multiplayer madness, you can choose from a range of classic games, 3D or screen scrolling multiplayer selections, or many other free internet games.
For the kids, and people who used to be a kid, there are favorites like Mario, Pokemon, Sonic, Metroid, and Pacman. For the grownups, a fun time can be had with strategy, sniper, shooter, escape the room, bowling, and tank games. Many young women enjoy the makeover and dress-up challenges. Best of all, you can usually play without downloading any software or suspicious items to your desktop, aside from the well-trusted Macromedia Flash applications in which these games are built or emulated.
My favorite flash games were found over at Ebaum's World and included the helicopter game and the miniature golf game, as well as the one where you run a penguin through an obstacle course. This was back when I had a cubicle that was 6 feet high on either side and a desk that faced outward, so nobody could see that my powers of concentration were not exactly on the task at hand. While some people thought that it was neat to play the video pinball game, I thought that it just wasn't very good.
